Why Podcasting in Schools? Podcasting requires a deep knowledge of content to be successful. It is a great way to demonstrate learning. It is a relatively new, rapidly spreading and innovative to share information on any subject. Podcasts can not only convey knowledge, but capture the imagination, express personality and promote social change.
Where do I start? 1. Get the equipment you need - You should have a) a microphone (uni or multi directional) b) a way to block sound or a quiet space c) a well rehearsed script d) access to music clips and sounds e) a podcasting program to record it on. f) if desired - a way to publish your podcasts g) a recording device
a) Microphones - check out what they say. How you want to use the mic will be determined by how many simultaneous users (single or multiple), ambient noises, effects, etc.). b) Sound blocking - If you have access to a quiet room, that is great. Otherwise, consider having students talk into the wall and record on the reflection, or use mini sound booths.
